This fabulous antique Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold Suffragette bangle is Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
The beautiful bangle is decorated with 3 Violet Amethyst’s, 2 green Peridots and 6 cream Pearls.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty. The stone has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
